TRC shares educational content to help people understand trauma, recovery, and healthy relationships. This page explains how we create and review what we publish so you can trust what you’re reading.

Purpose of our content
Our content is designed to:

  • Provide trauma informed psychoeducation
  • Reduce confusion, shame, and self-blame
  • Offer practical tools that support nervous system regulation and emotional safety
  • Help people recognize unhealthy dynamics, including coercive control and narcissistic abuse patterns

What our content is not
NARC content:

  • Is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or legal advice
  • Is not crisis support
  • Does not establish a therapist-client relationship

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or text/call 988 (U.S.).

Who writes our content
Content is written or reviewed by NARC clinicians and qualified professionals. When appropriate, we include:

  • Author name and credentials
  • The date published and last updated
  • Relevant sources or references

How we review content
Before we publish, we aim to ensure content is:

  • Trauma informed and survivor centered
  • Clinically responsible and aligned with scope of practice
  • Clear, practical, and not sensationalized
  • Updated when standards or best practices change

Sources and evidence
We use a mix of:

  • Clinical training and professional experience
  • Established trauma research and widely accepted clinical frameworks
  • Practical application that is safe for a general audience

Some topics have evolving research. When evidence is mixed, we try to say so plainly.

Language and tone
We take special care with language because survivors often arrive feeling confused and self doubting. We avoid:

  • Victim blaming
  • Minimizing abuse
  • Pop-psych clichés that minimize complex trauma
  • Diagnosing people the reader has never met

Conflicts of interest and endorsements
TRC does not accept payment to publish content that promotes a product or service as “clinically recommended” without transparency. If we ever use affiliate links or sponsorships, we will clearly disclose them on the page.

AI and editing tools
We may use editing tools to support clarity and readability. Final content is reviewed and approved by a human clinician before publication.
